Weld the Left Rocker Panel (part 1)
Adjust the Welder In the previous post i explained that welding on 3 B do not penetrate well and i switches to 4 C and the plug weldings are now OK. Re-weld Failed Weldings As i mentioned before, some of the weldings had no penetration. This is how i checked…
Butt Welding Lesson
I start with the disclaimer “this is a joke”. I am not good enough to give lessons 🙂 Let’s just get some fun. At the end of the production, they made some modifications for 1.1 and produced the same body for 601. Everybody knew that The end is near, it’s…
Paint the Cavities Inside
Before welding any cavities, they need to be rust-proofed. I use a zinc primer. It can be welded. After that i will paint with an urethane paint. While uploading the images to the last 2 posts, i was looking at the background and i felt like an investigative dog 🙂
Front Beam – Shape Missing Part
I shaped the missing (cut by me) part of the front crossbeam. Next i will paint the cavities inside and i am ready to finish the welding on the bottom.
The Welding Continues
It’s getting better all the time …my welding. Slowly, but constantly. I own another issue: “measure twice (even better 3 times), cut once”. My friend who jokes all the time says “i already cut it 3 times and it’s short again” 🙂 Floor (Vertical) Left Side I flipped the car…
Zinc Primer and Paint for the Floor
I bought zinc primer and paint for the underside of the floor. I need to prime and paint all the cavities (inside and outside) that i am welding now – the rocker panels. I hope that these are good quality paints, because of the crude climate in Quebec.
Floor Inside (the rustproofing points)
I almost prepared the floor from inside for primer/painting. The holes for rustproofing are visible on the next pictures (some were cut on the spots for patching). Front Side Middle Side Back Side More info about these holes in Butt Welding Lesson. In general the floor is in very good…
Cardboards
I started to prepare the cardboard parts for a restoration with fiberglass and epoxy resin. Almost all of them were hit and glued somehow. You can find documents about the duroplast reparation in this folder (Instandsetzungstechnologie Duroplast (1985) (DE).pdf). Left Side I need to cut all this old glue, reposition…
