Since i bought the car, the gas tank was causing problems, because it was/is rusted.
I made a mistake! I painted inside my gas tank. I used one of the perfectly marketed SHITS!
My cleaning procedure:
- Vinegar for one week with shaking and turning upside-down and left-right
- Neutralized with baking soda
- Fill with sand and shake
- Wash with dish soap
- Acetone
- Dry with heat gun
- Paint with the above garbage!
This happened around October 2023. In the summer of 2024 the paint in the gas tank had “blisters”, i.e. unglued portions. In April 2025 i bought a new gas tank and now i’ll fill the old one with used oil and put it aside for future amusement.
If we ask the marketers of these SHITS (gas tank sealers), they will certainly throw the guilt on us: you didn’t prepare the gas tank properly!
